Tips and Tricks to get the best Ocracoke vacation property experience:

Sticking to your budget:

  • In the Ocracoke area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Ocracoke vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local Ocracoke visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Castle Villa I: Escape to a place of serenity. Pool. Sauna. Dock. has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking pages. If not, contact the host before you reserve the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.

  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking

Considerations for your stay:

  • We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the property manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peace. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to inspire more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
