Ocracoke rental property booking tips and tricks:

When to visit Ocracoke & When to book:

  • Summertime is high season in the Ocracoke area. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties.
  • In the Ocracoke area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Finding the best rental in the Ocracoke area:

  • First, have your family select vacation dates and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Sea No Evil: Dog friendly, family friendly, decks, close to the beach. has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • If there's a specific Ocracoke beach you love, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the host right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
