Strategies for getting the perfect Ocracoke rental experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- To find the best vacation home within budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Ocracoke attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Ocracoke vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- In the Ocracoke area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, management companies supply Ocracoke area visitors guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Ocracoke visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and choosing yourrental:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and select a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Evening Shade: Secluded Home Near Lighthouse Off-Site Boat Slip has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property management company before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or applied to your contract.
Advice for your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
