Tips and Tricks for getting the best rental experience:
When to reserve a Ocracoke rental home & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserve your Ocracoke vacation in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Ocracoke area visitor guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting the perfect vacation rental in the Ocracoke area:
- Choose vacation dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Sawbones: Unique Pet Friendly A Frame Home has 4 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before booking your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what is best for your trip.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or may be applied to your contract.
- If there's an individual Ocracoke destination you simply love, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- Upon check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to drive more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
