Strategies to get the perfect Ocracoke rental home experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- In the Ocracoke area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To get the largest rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Ocracoke restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Planning, picking, and booking your prefectrental:
- Select vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Beechwood, on the best beach in America ????????? has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property management company before booking the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
More tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many problems.
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- To make certain damages aren't linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during check in. E-mail the property manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to drive more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
