Strategies to get the perfect Ocracoke vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the best vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Ocracoke restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Ocracoke vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Ocracoke area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.
How to select the perfect vacation home in Ocracoke:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Blue Oyster: Waterfront Home in Oyster Creek has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the rental manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
