Strategies to get the perfect Ocracoke vacation property experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking your Ocracoke vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Ocracoke vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Filter your search:

  • Begin by selecting a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Castle Villa II: Escape to a place of serenity. Pool. Sauna. Dock. has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the host before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's an individual Ocracoke destination you are crazy about, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • To make sure that no damages are linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. message the property manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
