Getting the best Ocracoke vacation rental experience:
Getting the best rental home value:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the largest vacation home for your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Ocracoke vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Ocracoke visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Filter your search:
- To start, have your group commit to dates and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. June: Lighthouse view from screened porch, overlooking marsh. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you book the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is right for your vacation group.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
- If there's a specific Ocracoke attraction you are crazy about, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Tips for a fantastic stay:
- Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of problems.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- During check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to compel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
