How to find the best rental experience:

How to get the best value:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in Ocracoke. To find the largest vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Ocracoke vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Ocracoke area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Blind Faith: Beautiful Classic Coastal Design has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. Otherwise, call the property management company before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a specific Ocracoke attraction you are crazy about, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

Tips to have a great stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many concerns.
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
  • To make sure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. message the rental manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
