Ok, (not really).... when we were looking to buy, this place was listed for $110,000,000 (which was a typo) and the place was a DUMP!!! While under construction, we referred to it as the "million dollar double wide" and the name stuck, just didn't seem right to call it anything else. The home has been COMPLETELY modernized from top to bottom. New Bathrooms, New bedrooms, New Kitchen, New exterior....... List goes on and on. We really feel like we have spent a million bucks on it. Located in the heart of the village, Its a short walk or bicycle ride to all the eateries and stores. Bicycle rental is across the street, coffee shop is 3 blocks away. Golf cart units are available in numerous locations on the island. There is a humongous covered porch with a walkway to it. Out back we have an outdoor shower with a walkway to the porch.

How to get the best vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Ocracoke area. To get the most suitable rental home within your budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Ocracoke vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, management companies supply Ocracoke area travel guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Ocracoke area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to select the best vacation home in the Ocracoke area:

  • Select your vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. MILLION DOLLAR DOUBLE WIDE!!! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Ocracoke rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible online. If not, contact the property owner before reserving your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your group.
  • If there's a particular Ocracoke destination you crave, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the host immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a great stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
