The BABY DUCK is conveniently located on the island within simple walking distance to the Ocracoke Lighthouse and Springers Point nature preserve. It is mins. away by foot or by bicycle to Silver Lake Harbor, eateries and shopping. Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Ocracoke rental experience:
Find your perfect rental:
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Ocracoke. To book the largest rental home within budget, we highly recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Some hosts offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Ocracoke area visitors guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and choose your Ocracoke rental home:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and select a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. 'Baby Duck' -Make Memories in Our Charming Island Bungalow has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Ocracoke rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before booking the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is right for your vacation group.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
Tips for a smooth stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- To make certain that no damages are linked to your visit, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the host right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
