Tips for getting the perfect vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best value, change your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Ocracoke vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies supply Ocracoke area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Ocracoke visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Make a plan and choose your prefect Ocracoke vacation home:
- Select a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Seafield House: Dog friendly home, sound side beach, perfect getaway. has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Ocracoke rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible online. If not, email or call the property management company before booking your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's an individual Ocracoke beach you simply love, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Tips for a wonderful stay:
- Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To make sure that damages are not attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Call the rental manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a excellent time? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
