Tips and Tricks for getting the best Ocracoke rental home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • To find the best value, consider changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Ocracoke vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Ocracoke area travel guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning and choosing the rightvacation home:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Crew's Quarters: Dog friendly convenient to restaurants, shops and galleries has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If there's a certain Ocracoke attraction you long to visit, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
  • To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas upon check in. Contact the rental manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
