Tips for getting the perfect rental experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- Summer is high season in Ocracoke. Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties.
- In the Ocracoke area, The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Ocracoke visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for local accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Outstanding Views of Pamlico Sound and Sunsets has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before you book the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to stimulate more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
